Slaters Guide to a Perfect Suit
Suits are a special gift from the style Gods above, you know big fabul-Zeus himself (sorry couldn’t resist). However, they are a statement and we understand even the most confident man can be intimidated by the pressure of a getting it just right. We live, breath and sometimes bleed suits here at Slaters HQ and therefore have some tips on how to pull off the perfect suit.
Skinny Fit Suit
Tailoring at its tightest – as the name suggests skinny fit suits are formfitting and have the least amount of extra room. The silhouette hugging suit allows for a super trendy look. Skinny fits are a favourite amongst the young and fashionable of the Hollywood elite such as Eddie Redmayne and Andrew Garfield.
Our tips: Size guides are a must when it comes to a skinny fit and we often recommend sizing up to get that desired look. Keep it smart by dressing with a classic brogue, a slim or skinny fit shirt and a slim tie. Go cool casual by pairing with an open collar shirt and a quirky pocket square.
The middle child – not feeling brave enough to jump into a super skinny fit but looking for a sleek silhouette? A slim fit suit is the one for you! Slim fits have less room for movement than a tailored but are a neater fit with a slimmed down lapel.
Our tips: It is still recommended to use the size guides and depending on your measurements a size up could be what you are looking for. Dress with a slim shirt, slim tie and classic shoe for a well-groomed and stylish look.
The classic fit will never go out of style. Tailored fits have a little more room for movement and are a versatile fit which looks great on almost every man. This timeless style is effortlessly dapper and smart. Jamie Redknapp and Leonardo DiCaprio are often pictured looking flawless in tailored fit suits.
Our tips: We recommend you stick with your usual sizing for a tailored fit suit. Look debonair by dressing with a pair of smart shoes, tailored fit shirt and matching tie and pocket square combo.
