Aside from the extensive selection of retail suits we have to offer, we also pride ourselves on providing a large number of Hirewear items for weddings, proms and events.
From Highlandwear, to Morningwear, we have tons of selection, ready to make you look your best for any occasion.
We caught up with Stuart Graham, our Hirewear Manager, for more information on the in-and-outs of hiring from Slater Menswear.
When would you recommend visiting the store or enquiring about formal hire?
I would recommend that an initial visit to the store would be beneficial at least 3-4 months before the function date with the official booking being made around 8-10 weeks before the event.
What selection of items are available to hire?
We supply a range of formal suit hire and highland dress. It ranges from classic styles to modern and contemporary.
Are there any Hirewear offers or discounts?
For group bookings we offer a 5 for 4 deal. When you book 5 outfits at the same time, you will get the most expensive outfit for free. Terms and conditions apply. We also offer a 20% student discount.
Can items be tried on before booking?
Between September and April you can book a free try-on outfit online via our outfit builder on the Hirewear page.
This is exclusive for the formal suit hire only and unfortunately cannot be applied for highland wear.
Is an appointment required to view some of the Hirewear?
We offer a walk-in service, so there’s no need to book an appointment. If you visit the store at a convenient time for yourself, a member of staff will be happy to assist you further.
Do you offer a made to measure service for kilts?
We offer a made to measure service where a full 8 yard kilt starts from £305 to £415, all depending on cloth selection. In our Scottish stores we also offer a made to order service with our highland jackets, where you can pick from over 90 fabrics and 7 body styles. Prices start from £220 upwards.
How does the service work instore and online?
When the customer comes into the store, we require to know the function date, how many people the booking is for and whether it is for kilts or suits. Once we have established the outfits, we take a 50% deposit to secure the booking and all we need is the names of the wearers and the outfits they will be wearing. All new hire orders are placed in store although you can make enquiries online. Once you have made a booking, we offer a final fitting 2-3 working days before the function to ensure that all the items fit well.
How much notice is required for last-minute events?
Most stores will require at least one week to process an order. The hire stock is not kept in house and has to be ordered in.
Are you able to hire specific tartans?
There are 17 tartans that can be hired. All of which can be found on the Hirewear page.
How young can the Hirewear accommodate?
We can accommodate formalwear and highland wear from 18 months. We can also supply matching items for the youngest in the family to the oldest.
When are the items required to be returned?
The official date is always 2 days after the function, though we do offer an extended hire which comes at a surcharge. This can be discussed when visiting the store.
We hope that covers everything you need to know about hirewear at Slaters, if not just drop us a line. Happy hiring!
