2018 was a great year for cinema with some truly incredible movies gracing big screens all around the world. We were treated to the masterpiece which is The Shape of Water by Del Toro and then torn apart and left questioning life after Infinity War from Marvel. Ready Player One had us dancing in our seats and ready to tackle a dystopian virtual reality based future and A Quiet Place had us holding our breaths for faaaar too long. Now it’s a new year for the cinematic world, here’s our most anticipated movies of 2019;
Once upon a Time in Hollywood – 26th July 2019
Hollywood giants Leonardo Di’caprio and Brad Pritt are directored by the iconic Quentin Taratino in this story of an actor and his stunt double trying to make it in a Hollywood they no longer know. Based in 1969 at the height of ‘Hippie Hollywood; with the Manson family and murders incorporated we’ve got a strong feeling the styling, soundtrack and storylines are going to blow to us all away!
Avengers: Endgame – 24th April 2019the
Don’t cry, do not cry, okay I’m crying. Our favourite bunch of Super Heroes are back, or are they? The end of Infinity War was possibly one of the greatest movie cliff-hangers of millennials time and this year we get to find out what happened after that fateful snap. Endgame will wrap up Marvel’s epic Phase 3 and we just don’t know if we are ready for what may happen.
IT: Chapter Two – 6th September 2019
Pennywise the friendly neighbourhood clown is back to entertain the kids, oops sorry got that wrong. He’s actually not that friendly and is truly after the kids of Losers Club, just a whole 27 years later – some people really hold a grudge huh! We’re excited to see how this adaptation of Stephen King’s legendary novel pans out and the fate of the lovable kids of Derry. Will they be able to put an end to the evil clown once and for all?
The Joker – 4th October 2019
There are very few actors who we can get behind playing Gotham’s scariest villain but Joaquin Phoenix is one of them. This Joker origins movie is one we’ve been waiting very patiently for. Honestly DC has been a bit of mess recently, less not talk about Batfleck, but the Joker trailer looks like DC’s older stereotypical and well-loved darker and quirkier style. We’ve got high hopes for this movie all about the Clown Prince of Crime.
Pokémon Detective Pikachu – 10th May 2019 (TBC)
Deadpool, no Ryan Reynolds is Pikachu, who meets a young man that is gifted with the ability to hear what he is actually saying whereas the rest of the world can only hear the cute yet fiery furball sing the Pika, Pika we all know and love. The pair join forces to unravel the mystery disappearance of Tim’s dad and soon stumble across more than they bargained for.
There are a lot more movies coming out in 2019 that we are super excited to see such as Toy Story 4, Rocket Man and Pet Cemetery but let’s not bore you! Are there any you are particularly stoked for this year? We’d love to know!
