So everyone – you’re in for a real, more exclusive than a Jon Snow Games of Thrones spoiler, kinda treat today. We have a sneak peak at all the debaucheries and scandal that goes on behind the scenes of a Slaters photo-shoot. Okay, we will admit it; they really are not that scandalous but always fun … Enjoy our breakdown of the day.
We like to use local businesses where possible and luckily Glasgow is a hot pot of quirky, grand and beautiful venues. Arta was our chosen spot for this shoot because well because just look at it…
The location is grand, diverse and overall just overflowing with character. We were in awe of the venue and it made for the perfect back drop for some sick images.
Osh MacKenzie and Matthew Ponde were the faces of our A/W campaign, both portraying a very different look and feel. Osh with his polished charisma and style fitted perfectly into the “nice guy” persona of the campaign. While Matt’s laddish personality and look has more of a cheeky a ‘rebellious’ vibe. We loved working with these guys and think they were the perfect characters to front our campaign, but don’t be fooled by their handsome faces and devastating good looks…these lads love a laugh and we have the photographic AND video evidence to prove it…
The shoot was specifically for our new website launch and mainly featured suits and blazers which will be available to buy as part of our AW range. The fabrics and patterns included an eclectic mix of checks, microdots and plain fabric in blue, greys and more autumnal colours such as brown. We also had some killer dinner suit looks in there…if you have some serious impressing to do, trust us, one of these suits is about to be your new best friend.
Styling for the photo-shoot is always exciting and allows our stylists to spread their creative fashion wings but even more so for AW 16 due to the slightly quirky and fresh theme. The nice guy VS rebel motif running through the shoot allowed the stylist to pull inspiration from famous movies and really come up with innovative and modern looks.
The theme also allowed the stylist to get slightly more playful and use combinations which might have otherwise been vetoed. Check out this black shirt with grey suit look with oozes an almost gangster sophistication look which came together perfectly. Also shout out to luxury jeweller Laings of Glasgow for supplying us with some sick watches to finish off our looks.
Our online team were on location all day to oversee the shoot. We had Gavin from Visual Aspect shooting the photography and David from Proud Motion capturing our video pieces. We often work with these guys on the shoots as we love the results and just a little personal bonus they are a lot of fun to work with – which makes the shoot day soooo much easier.
So that’s the rundown of another long and hard but great shoot day, the results of which we were very happy with. Sorry we’re not any wilder than that, or are we just not letting on…you decide! View our look book to shop the looks from the campaign.
