The August Bank Holiday of 2017 is fast approaching and if you’re lucky enough to be off work for this 3-day weekend, then you’ll probably be looking for something to do.

If you’re going solo or in a group and looking for something different to do with your partner, friends, or family, we’ve found something that everyone will enjoy!

We’ve done our research into the best events and activities going on over the bank holiday weekend near our stores across the country, and it’s fair to say, you’re not going to be short of things to do, whatever your interests.

So, here you have it, the Slaters’ Guide to the Best Bank Holiday Ever!

If you’re going to be hanging around the city of Manchester between 26th and 28th August, then there’s a variety of things going on.

Manchester Pride – We LOVE a pride festival here at Slaters, and Manchesters is probably one of the most iconic out there. So if you’re in the mood for a weekend of music, colour and celebrations, then that’s something to check out.

Moet Terrace Party at AustralasiaIf you and some friends fancy a day of champagne in the city, then you might want to check out the Moet Terrace Party at Australasia. Ideal for a boozy yet super classy day out with friends or a sophisticated date with a special someone, the Moet Terrace Party is taking place at Australasia on bank holiday Sunday (27th) from midday until the early hours. Be prepared for a live DJ as well as other live music performance, a photo booth and of course, loads of champagne! We think this will be pretty popular, so we’d recommend booking in advance!

Summer at ChillIf a day of drinking on a cool terrace bar isn’t your scene anymore, and you’re looking for a family friendly day out, the Chill Factore near the Trafford Centre have opened their doors from 12th August to 3rd September and are offering an array of free activities to please all the family. From a pop up cinema, to UV ping pong, as well as cool food street stalls, this sounds like a great option for everyone to enjoy!

Leeds & Reading

You probably already know what we’re going to say, but if you can get yourself to Leeds or Reading over the bank holiday weekend, then the big festivals are where you need to be! Leeds Fest and Reading Fest are two of the most iconic music festivals in the UK, and they’re back this August bank holiday.

If you’ve already got your tickets for Reading Fest then you might be interested to know that Samsung will be there, with their infamous ‘Hypercube’, the virtual reality experience, referred to as the ‘360 Infinity Selfie’, which sounds seriously cool. If you were contemplating grabbing tickets to Reading, we think it sounds like a plan!

As you may have seen in our prom blog post a while back, we hit up our local trampoline park here in Glasgow for that shoot and we loved it! So, if you’re in Newcastle over the bank holiday, we’d recommend checking out the brand new ‘Jump 360’.

Opening to the public over the August bank holiday weekend, this is the perfect time to be one of the first to experience the brand new 30,000 sq. foot indoor trampoline park.

These parks are great for kids, but they’re also great fun for adults too!

If your nearest Slaters’ store is our shop in Hull, you may not be too far from this event. So, if you fancy something a little more subdued, the Epworth Agricultural Show will be on at the Show Field in Epworth on bank holiday Monday from 9am.

A cool day out with something to please everyone, this classic country show has everything from a fairground, shopping stalls, a tent of live music, as well as dogs shows and a stunt show!

If you’re from in and around the Birmingham area, you’ll have heard of the Ironbridge, and this August bank holiday weekend they’ve got loads of different family events going on, so even if you’ve been and visited the landmark before, there’ll be something new to do.

The entrance fees are super affordable, and even free for under 5s.

If you’re into sailing, then why not grab some tickets to go and watch the Extreme Sailing Series that will be in Cardiff from the 25th to the 28th of August.

Entrance to the race village is free, but you can take your day out one step further and book a VIP experience.  As well as being able to watch the main event, there’ll be other entertainment and activities going on too.

New Forest Water Park – If you like to live on the wild side, then a day out at the UK’s largest water sports park probably sounds right up your street.

New Forest Water Park is just an hour on the motorway from our Basingstoke store, and there’s so many different things to do but if you’re making a special trip over the bank holiday weekend, then you’ve got to try the ‘Total Wipeout meets Ninja Warrior on-water experience’… sounds pretty cool doesn’t it?

Entrance costs are affordable, and there’s plenty to do to keep you busy all day!

Ardunel Castle – If getting flung into water all day isn’t on your agenda for the bank holiday then checking out the special events going on at Ardunel Castle may be of interest. Whether you have an interest in Shakespeare, or fancy wondering through the decades during their ‘History in Action’ event, this is a unique opportunity, and ideal for doing something different.

Once again, the tickets are really affordable, and there’s plenty to do for all the family, so if you’re planning for a relaxed few days, this could be a great option.

Nothing says bank holiday weekend quite like a food festival, so if you’re local to Bolton, we recommend checking out the 2017 Bolton Food and Drink Festival, featuring celebrity chefs, loads of market stalls and plenty of great food and drink.

If you fancy heading down to the festival, all the information is on their website!

Though technically not in Bromley, this is our closest store to London, and we couldn’t give you a guide to a super cool bank holiday weekend without letting you in on what’s going on in the capital city.

You’ve probably heard of the Notting Hill Carnival that’s going on in the city over the bank holiday, but if the hustle and bustle of the city centre isn’t your thing, then a boat trip around Little Venice, London Zoo and Camden Lock may be more up your street.

We think GoBoat London sounds super cool, and really awesome way to see more of the city, away from the madness of the streets! Really affordable at just £7 a head, this is definitely something we want to check out!

Just over 20 miles from our store in Cheltenham, you’ll find The Big Festival in Chipping Norton.

An amazing weekend of music from leading names including Olly Murs and Louisa Johnson, as well as appearances from superstar chefs.

This star-studded music festival is based on the farm of Blur founder, Alex James, and will also have an array of family friendly activities and food stalls!

If you fancy grabbing a ticket, you can get them here!
