Summer is upon us which means a few things, one of those being that we are well and truly in beer garden season and we’re sure there are plenty of you reading this who are more than pleased about that.

The sun is out, the music is playing, the drinks are flowing, it doesn’t get better than spending sunny weekends in your favourite pub gardens with friends and family but if you fancy adventuring away from your local and testing out some seriously good drinking spots in the UK, we’re here to offer some suggestions.

We’ve taken a few sunny strolls around the pubs near our stores and are here to report back on the best beer gardens we’ve found that are perfect for grabbing some refreshments after hitting up the shops!

Manchester House, 18-22 Bridge Street, Spinningfields, Manchester, M3 3BZ

Manchester House sits in the heart of the Spinningfields area and is a popular destination for foodies and drinkers of all ages.

It’s pretty fancy but the food and drink truly is irresistible whether you sit inside or out but when the sun is shining, their rooftop terrace is where you want to be.

The ultimate version of an urban beer garden, the Manchester House outdoor seating area is modern, it’s seriously cool and it is exactly where you need to be seen as a stylish Mancunian when the sun is out.

Overlooking the hustle and bustle of the city, this elevated ‘urban garden’ style space is fitted with artificial grass and quirky garden furniture for a sophisticated and comfortable space to kick back and relax.

A quick 9-minute walk from our Brown Street store, Manchester House is the perfect place to refuel when the sun is out once your shopping trip is over.

Cottiers, 93-95 Hyndland Street, Glasgow, G11 5PU

A unique and versatile space in the heart of Glasgow, Cottiers is a bar, theatre and wedding venue, all made from a church conversion. As well as having a cool interior, Cottiers has a large exterior space for drinking and socialising, ideal for when the sun is out.

Famous for outdoor dining and drinking in the city, there’s plenty of room for everyone at this beer garden and there’s also some great food and drink to go around. From their well-loved BBQ to an extensive selection of beers from around the globe, you’ll be spoilt for choice when you head to Cottiers.

Just 15 minutes in the car from our Glasgow store on Howard Street in the city, this is the perfect beer garden to pay a visit to once you’re ready to head out of the city centre.

The Blackbird, 37-39 Leven Street, Edinburgh, EH3 9LH

We love finding quirky and cool spots to grab a drink or a bite to eat and we’ve mentioned The Blackbird in Edinburgh before in our New Year’s Eve cocktail making guide because we simply can’t get enough of them!

Situated within perfect distance of our Edinburgh store, this eatery is also known for having one of the best bars in the area and as well as a modern and cool interior seating area, The Blackbird has a stylish outside seating area that allows you to embrace that urban garden aesthetic whilst enjoying a quirky cocktail or refreshing beer.

Fenced off from the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh’s main shopping area, The Blackbird beer garden is a relaxed and cool atmosphere with vibrantly painted furniture and plenty of exposure to the sun, perfect for soaking up the rays with a tasty cocktail in the height of summer.

Lamb and Flag, 1 Church Row, Leeds, LS2 7HD

Part of the Leeds Brewery Group, the largest brewing company in the city, the Lamb and Flag is a newly refurbished gastro style pub serving great food and equally as good beers.

A restored 19th-century building that was once left for rubble, the Lamb and Flag is now a modern, clean and pretty chic eatery with a menu that changes seasonally and selection of locally brewed beers that vary daily.

The feeling of a quaint, country pub has been encaptured and brought to the heart of Leeds but the star of the show has to be their beer garden, a relaxing and spacious area for people of all ages to enjoy tasty food and moreish beverages under the city sun.

Classic picnic benches overlook the outskirts of the busy city and if you’re worried about missing big football games because you’re sat outdoors, think again because the Lamb and Flag have TVs outside playing the top matches such as the World Cup.

The Old Crown, High Street, Birmingham, B12 0LD

Traditional aesthetics with a modern twist to the menu, The Old Crown in Birmingham is the perfect option for when you want to get great food at an old-school local pub.

An eye-catching black and white Tudor style building with a warm and cosy interior, the menu has something to offer everyone from sandwiches to burgers, light snacks to piled high Sunday roasts and the drinks menu is equally as appealing with local brews and popular beverages.

Revolution, 25 Belmont Street, Aberdeen, AB10 1JS

Most towns and cities are home to a Revolution Bar but Aberdeen’s is a real hot spot for the city and also home to an irresistible outdoor space.

Modern, cool and the place to be, Revolution in Aberdeen has the same suave aesthetic as the majority of the other bars within the chain, boasting the same extensive drinks menu and tasty food offerings but what sets the Aberdeen branch apart from the others is its bright and open outdoor drinking space, ideal for those sunny Scottish weekends.

A terrace that can be found out the back of the main bar, this open area is pretty standard with tables and chairs for chilling out but the views over Union Square Gardens are what give this city-style beer garden the edge.

Even better still, the Belmont Street bar is just an 8-minute walk from Slater Menswear on Bon Accord Street, so you can fit in a visit to both during your time in the city.

The UK is known for having the best beer gardens and these are just a small selection of what this nation has to offer when it comes to irresistible outdoor drinking spaces.
