Millions of people across the globe tuned into British TV on Saturday 19th May to watch Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle tie the knot and become the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Although the whole event was truly breath-taking and unique compared to royal weddings of the past, the fashion was one of the things that stood out. As menswear retailers, we couldn’t help but be inspired by some of the dapper attire being sported by the male guests.
We’re going to be looking back at some of the best-dressed men from the day and showing you how to recreate the looks!
Prince Harry’s Evening Look
As expected, Prince Harry sported traditional military attire to the ceremony but when it came to the evening celebrations, he turned his back on tradition and opted for a more relaxed look in a black velvet dinner suit – the perfect partner to his new wife’s second gown.
Prince Harry paired a crisp white shirt with textured velvet black jacket, tailored fit black trousers, a black bow tie and smart black shoes, channelling his inner James Bond in this sophisticated ensemble.
A video of the couple emerging into the public eye in their evening attire can be found on the official twitter of Kensington Palace.
Known for being an effortlessly stylish gent who never misses the mark when it comes to fashion, it really was no surprise that David Beckham wowed at this royal event.
It’s fair to say that Mr Beckham has been widely considered one of the best-dressed men of the day and we’re in total agreement. His outfit saw a traditional morning suit meet 21st-century style to create a modern twist on a classic.
Matching morning trousers and tailcoat in a dark grey were contrasted by a statement double-breasted light grey waistcoat and the outfit was completed with a charcoal grey tie and smart black shoes. Beckham accessorised the look in his own unique way with a gold chain on the waistcoat and tortoiseshell sunglasses.
Another famous face that is best known for his style is George Clooney and we can confidently say he didn’t disappoint with his attire for the royal wedding.
It may have been his wife Amal who stole the show with her bold yellow outfit but for anyone who knows their stuff when it comes to menswear, Mr Clooney’s outfit choice definitely didn’t go unnoticed.
Effortless, stylish and perfectly suited to the occasion, George Clooney also went for grey but swapped a traditional morning suit for a more relaxed two-piece. He completed the look with a pale blue shirt and coordinated with his wife by adding a light yellow tie and pocket square before finishing the outfit with simple black dress shoes.
Popular actor Idris Elba stole the spotlight when he arrived at Windsor Castle prior to the ceremony starting with his modern, effortlessly cool but seriously smart wedding attire.
Perfectly matching his partner’s navy ensemble, Idris Elba sported a tailored fit dark navy three-piece suit with crisp white shirt, matching navy tie and smart dark navy shoes. The outfit was simple, understated but spot on for the occasion.
If you weren’t familiar with many of the royal wedding guests, James Corden is guaranteed to have been a famous face you recognised. A big hit in both the UK and America for his TV career, it really wasn’t much of a surprise to see him and his wife heading into Windsor Castle for the ceremony.
Corden’s style for the big event was simple and seriously traditional and he worked it in his usual confident way. He paired a black tailcoat jacket with charcoal grey morning trousers, adding a simple white shirt, skinny black tie and black dress shoes with a silver buckle detail.
