The Top Ways to Save Money on Clothes This January

After all of the costs of Christmas, January is a tight time for money for us all but what if we told you that you didn’t have to stop kitting yourself out with new clothing just because you’re trying to save some cash?

Clothes shopping tends to be one of the first things to get culled when you’re trying to save back up after the festive period but we know the temptation to treat yourself to some new clothes with that Christmas money can all get too much, so if you want to stock up your wardrobe this month without breaking the bank, here are some top ways to save money whilst still getting your shopping fix!

  1. Shop the Sales Later in the Month

If you’re familiar with the concept of ‘further reductions’ then you’ll understand why shopping the sales towards the end of January as opposed to straight after Christmas could see you picking up a better bargain!

Some items will only be reduced once and if they’re popular then they can be worth grabbing while you can but for some items of clothing, they’ll often be reduced multiple times, reaching their lowest price towards the end of January, so that’s your best time to shop the sales if you’re on a budget.

  1. Buy Your Brands from Outlets or Multi-Brand Retailers

We know that it can be tempting to go straight to your favourite brands direct and buy what you want from them but shopping outlets and multi-brand retailers like us here at Slater Menswear could see you saving some serious cash!

Outlets tend to stock last season’s stock, so if you loved something from a brand before Christmas, it might pop up in an outlet store in the new year but shops like Slaters stock all your favourite brands all year round, often at reduced prices to the brand.

We’ve got Calvin Klein boxers, Levi’s jeans and other top brand products for lower prices than if you were to buy straight from the brand, so do your research before you buy!

  1. Operate a ‘One In, One Out’ Policy

As much as we all like to have a well-stocked wardrobe, if you want to save some money or at least break even when buying your clothes, operating a ‘one in, one out’ policy can help keep you within your monthly budget for buying clothes!

For every item you want to buy or do buy, sell something else in your wardrobe. By operating a routine like this, you’ll have to really think about whether you want to buy what you’ve got your eye on and whether it’s worth more to you than something you’ve already got!

  1. Browse Both In-Store and Online Before Purchasing

January is all about making intelligent purchases and really thinking before you buy, so this is the point at which you need to get your detective hat on and do some research before handing over your money!

Sometimes brands will have exclusively online or exclusively in-store discounts, offers and events that result in savings, so if you see something you want to pick up, check the online and in-store prices before deciding how to buy!

So, if you’ve got your eye on a few new purchases this month but are working to a strict January budget, we hope these few simple tips can be of use to help you get the items you’re wanting without breaking the bank!
