Whether you’re a real petrol head or not, we think it’s fair to say that most people care about the car they drive and take pride in having the best vehicle possible. There’s always a new car release just around the corner, some more anticipated than others, so we’re going to share with you the most exciting car releases for 2018.
Starting off at the higher end of the spectrum, the Lamborghini Urus is one of the most talked about cars coming out in 2018. Known for being the creators of fierce and powerful sports cars, Lamborghini are entering the SUV market with the launch of the Urus, the world’s first ‘super sport utility vehicle’.
Designed to still have the same iconic aesthetics as traditional Lamborghini super cars, the Urus is packed with unique features on the exterior, interior and under the bonnet. From luxury Italian leather interiors to an integrated V8 bi-turbo engine, this car has everything it needs and more to take the SUV market by storm.
Fancy seeing yourself in the driving seat of one of these? The Lamborghini Urus will be available in Spring and will set you back a modest £165,000.
Range Rover SV Coupe
Known for being rugged, sporty yet highly comfortable, Range Rovers are designed to be robust and ready for anything but the time has come for the brand to go down a different route. The Range Rover SV Coupe is set to be a luxurious yet seriously cool two-door, four-seater vehicle with all the best features of previous models and more.
Every effort has been made by Land Rover to ensure this model is their most opulent yet and they’ve ensured that with the addition of wood-veneered centre consoles, quilted leather seats and all the same smooth driving features of the current Range Rover models.
If you want to be behind the wheel of one of the new Range Rover SV Coupes then you’ll have to wait until after the Geneva Motor Show where they’re being officially released. You’ll also need a healthy £200,000+ in the bank according to predictions from some of the industry’s best car experts.
A slightly more affordable option for the family, Volvo have decided to create a smaller sibling to their already popular XC60. Showcasing some similar aesthetic features to the larger models in the range such as the shape of the front and rear lights, the XC40 does however hold its own in the market thanks to some unique features.
The smallest SUV ever to be produced by Volvo, the XC40 is designed to still have the same robust and rugged shape as a classic four-wheel drive but with a unique twist to help it stand out from the crowd. Claiming to be the safest car of its kind while still showcasing a whole host of high-tech features such as a tablet style dashboard, the XC40 is set to rival some of the best-selling models in this market.
As well as having a better seating position than the BMW X1 according to WhatCar.com, the Volvo XC40 is also going to be one of the easiest to purchase vehicles on the market this year thanks to the launch of Volvo’s new subscription service, Care by Volvo, where all your costs will be covered in one monthly fee.
Audi have been holding their own in the SUV market for some time now with the Q7 being a real rival for similar models from the likes of Range Rover but now they’ve decided to try and lead the way with their biggest model yet, the Q8.
Designed to be a larger size than the current Q7 and pack an even bigger punch of power than the standard Q7 model. Experts at Auto Express have predicted that the standard Q8 will be on a similar performance level to the higher spec SQ7 with a 4.0 litre bi-turbo V8 diesel engine.
When the concept for this vehicle was released back in 2017, it was revealed that the shape is going to be sleek and sit on 23-inch alloy wheels and be fitted with carbon-ceramic breaks as a standard, so who knows what added features the SQ8 will hold.
This new launch from Audi is still very much under wraps and full details aren’t expected until later this year, so keep your eyes peeled if you want to be the first to be seen in Audi’s biggest SUV yet.
Ford Fiesta ST
A slightly smaller and more affordable option than the above but still showcasing a seriously impressive array of features, the newest version of the Ford Fiesta ST is set to be the sportiest version yet.
Infamous for being the seriously cool and super sporty addition to the Ford collection, the new Fiesta ST has a feisty aesthetic with 18-inch alloys and a rugged body kit but it’s what’s under the bonnet that gives it the wow factor. The new model will be fitted with a smaller but more powerful 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo engine that will boast an extra 17bhp than the current models.
Not only have Ford found a way to kit the Fiesta ST out with even more power, they’ve also found a way to ensure this doesn’t harm the environment with the addition of cylinder deactivation which cuts co2 emissions to just 114g/km.
Estimated to retail for around £19,000, the Ford Fiesta ST is a drastically more affordable option than the other releases we’ve featured but is still a fair price for a hot hatch.
We’ve focused on the sportiest and most exciting new cars for 2018 but there are so many more great new cars set to be released this year that we’ve not got time to talk about in detail. The Mercedes A-Class is getting a revamp, the Volkswagen Up! Is getting a GTI upgrade and BMW are set to revive the 8-series, so look out for those too!
