We’ve spoken before about how we’re working to be the most inclusive retailer possible, offering as much attention to our range of LGBTQ+ wedding look books and outfit guides as we do all of our other collections and today we wanted to look at the top fashion trends for same-sex couples tying the knot in 2019.
We chatted with the team at The Gay Wedding Guide, an online platform for members of the LGBTQ+ community who are planning weddings to go to find out the latest industry news, fashion, ceremony and reception ideas and more because who better to ask about same-sex wedding trends than them?
The team there told us all we need to know about what’s hot in terms of wedding fashion for LGBTQ+ couples and that’s what we’re going to be sharing with you today:
A trend everyone can sport, whether you’re wearing a dress, suit or another type of outfit down the aisle, pastel colours are set to be popular for same-sex weddings throughout spring and summer.
Pale colours always come back in fashion when the weather gets warmer but they’re not always the first choice for a wedding but according to the Gay Wedding Guide, we’re going to be seeing a lot of them at 2019 weddings.
Pinks, blues, greens, yellows and more, it’s a little quirkier than wearing white but still light and fresh for the sunny seasons.
Fluorescent and Neon
If you’re a couple who like to dress up and stand out then you’ll be pleased to hear that brights are back this year and making a comeback on the wedding scene.
Mainly making an appearance in the form of accessories as opposed to clothing, fluorescent and neon prints are being used to make a statement by pairing boldly coloured shoes, ties and more with simple suits.
A trend we’ve been loving for all weddings for a while now, according to the team at The Gay Wedding Guide, florals have become popular amongst same-sex couples tying the knot, in the form of suits, dresses, accessories and more.
If you’re hosting a spring or summer wedding, a floral print feels very seasonal and can so easily be added into your outfit, no matter how bold or subtle you want to go.
Pleats and Clean Lines
Not a colour or print like the above but a tailoring trend instead, pleats and clean lines within suits and suit accessories are a big hit for same-sex weddings in 2019.
From a strong pleat down the front of your trousers to a pleated detailing on a shirt or tie, we often forget just how much pleats are incorporated into menswear but when you’re on the hunt for items that fit the trend, you’ll soon see just how common pleats are in men’s tailoring.
So, if you want your wedding fashion to be bang on trend for 2019, these are the styles you need to be looking at!
